Southern Sardinia
Carignano by the Sea

Carignano by the Sea
Where the Wine Begins Before the Glass
Carignano is a wine born from an ongoing encounter between land and sea.
Here, wind, sand, and light shape a quiet, precise expression of place.
This is a TasteAPlace encounter in southern Sardinia — through wine, land, people, and rhythm.
Close to the Edge of the Sea
In the southwest of Sardinia, in the Sulcis region, vines grow almost at the water’s edge.
Sometimes rooted in sand, they live with constant wind and salt, season after season.
This is a place defined by limits — and by the human ability to work within them.
Over generations, a way of being has formed here: attentive, restrained, deeply connected to the land.
Carignano carries this character with clarity and quiet strength.

Stepping Into the Day
We begin with coffee and a pastry at a local bar.
A simple moment of arrival, before moving out toward the vineyards that open to the sea.
From there, the day unfolds gently through a sequence of encounters:
Walking the landscape and learning to read it together
Meeting the people whose daily work shapes the wine
Understanding Carignano through the way it lives and breathes here
Tasting wines alongside food that belongs to this place — at times as a simple picnic, set among the vineyards or by the sea
Noticing how aroma, texture, and movement begin to reveal context
There is no fixed script.
The day takes its rhythm from the place, the season, and the people present.

Meeting Me Through the Place
I am Ruth Bruchel, founder of BeWine and creator of the TasteAPlace approach.
I live in southern Sardinia, and from within this place I create the encounters I lead.
I trained as a sommelier in Italy with FISAR and specialized in wine tourism.
My path moves through wine, agriculture, and culture, and through long-term relationships with people who live and work the land.
Each encounter begins long before we meet — through research, familiarity, and listening.
When we are together, everything is already in motion.

For Those Who Recognize the Pace
This encounter is for those who are drawn to depth, to nuance, and to a different sense of time.
No prior wine knowledge is needed — only attention, curiosity, and presence.

This is where TasteAPlace begins — in the meeting between time, place, and touch.
Almost all images on this page were taken by me — except for one, when I realized the view was simply too big for a selfie, and trusted someone who had stopped beside me for the very same reason. 😉
